How to Rent a Kimono
Sakura Kimono Kyoto offers over 400 kimonos and yukatas, ranging from children’s styles to the highest quality furisode. We will help you find the kimono and accessories that best suit your look.
Here is a step-by-step guide to our kimono rental service.

Kimono Rental Fees
- Hair styling is free for female customers. Makeup services are not provided.
- The rental fee includes the kimono, obi belt, bag, and traditional footwear.
Reservation Cancellations
- No cancellation or no-show fee for standard kimono rental (advance notice is required).
- Plans that include a photoshoot require a deposit. Deposits are non-refundable in case of customer-initiated cancellations.
Group Bookings and Cancellations
- A deposit is required for group bookings of 20 or more people.

Cancellation 10 days in advance: Full refund of the deposit
9–5 days in advance: 50% of the deposit is charged
4 days to same-day cancellation: 70–100% of the deposit is charged
* Due to staff scheduling and preparation (e.g., stylists), we kindly ask for your understanding.
* For changes in group size, please contact us at least 5 days in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Return Time and Late Fees
- All kimonos must be returned by 6:00 PM on the same day, regardless of rental time.
- Late returns outside business hours will incur a fee of ¥1,000 per hour per person.
- Business hour extension available: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Overnight Rental Plan (Yukata Only)
- Only available for yukata. Additional ¥2,000 per person on top of standard rental fee.
- ID verification and a ¥10,000 security deposit are required at the time of rental.
- Return by noon the next day. Late returns after 12:00 PM are charged ¥1,000 per hour per person.
Customer Responsibilities
- Please take care not to get the kimono or yukata wet, dirty, or damaged. You may be charged the actual cost for any damage or loss.
- Please inform us in advance if you need to return items outside business hours.
